What is a generation portrait session?
The Generation session includes images with the WHOLE family. Your parents, your siblings and their families. Your grandparents are also welcome to join!
Where to shoot your generation family photo session?
Generation sessions are photographed outdoors year round. I have a handful of prefered locations that offer the space and variety a generation session requires. These prefered locations are local to the Cambridge, mn area, and are walkable and wheelchair friendly. If you are interested in photographing your session at your own location, please inquire directly.

How often should I book a generation session?
Once a year keeps the family photos updated enough to chart the children growing, and accumulating!
How long does it take to get images delivered after the session?
The proofing gallery is delivered to the family within one week of the session. The proofing gallery allows each family to choose which images they’d like for the final edit and high resolution delivery.
How many images do we receive?
You receive your choice of 75 fully edited, high resolution images. Once the images are selected by you, delivery of final images is roughly 7 days.

What do I wear to a generation family session?
Families should not match their outfits, but coordinate. Usually keeping to a color palette of 4 to 5 desaturated neutrals is best. Dressing for the season is also very important. If shooting in the summer, light fabrics, casual dresses, denim. Coats, gloves, and mittens are key in the winter and fit with the wintery scene.
What groupings are included in the generation session?
The first image we capture during the session is the whole group together, then grandparents with the grandchildren, then just the grandchildren. From there we photograph each individual family group, their sibling groups, and those children individually. Then we photograph the parents/grandparents with their adult children. The session runs about 60 minutes, allowing for breaks.

You won’t regret having images with the people you love most. Most families get individual family portraits done, but rarely with their parents, and siblings families. It’s also a great excuse to get the family together, and make a fun tradition.
